SculptJanuary 17 – Fooooooot. A right foot, to be precise.

I didn’t think feet were that complicated before I started this. This sculpt changed my mind.

SculptJanuary 16 – “Chimera”. Concept sketch included.

This one was fun but I am running late for something so no time to talk about it! Sleeping things are always cuter.

SculptJanuary 15 – “Waterfall”.

Keeping it fairly simple and rough tonight because I’m super-tired and I need sleep. The Always Excellent and Effervescent Jason van Gumster suggested using the Blob brush with the brush in Anchor mode to do the foam and it looks nicely blobby. 🙂 For this excellent advice he gets another book plug for Blender For Dummies, 3rd Edition.

SculptJanuary 14 – “Fav Film Character”. Maybe he’s not my absolute fave movie character of all time, but The Big Lebowski’s The Dude (one of many career highlight performances by the amazing Jeff Bridges) certainly ranks up there.

Another sculpt where I ran out of time. Time and effort management is a skill I’m learning this month too. The caricature’s a bit better than the Buster one though, so that’s something.

SculptJanuary 25 – “Hat”. A bowler hat or derby. Charlie Chaplin famously wore one.

All my prep for “clothes” involved swotting up on fabric.. then I couldn’t decide what to sculpt. Fellow of Indubitable Blendery Excellence and author of Blender for Dummies Jason van Gumster suggested sculpting a bowler hat for curved hard surface practice. A good idea, I thought, because I haven’t done much hard surface sculpting at all.

It was not to end well. Inexperience and generally feeling under the weather saw me losing patience trying to get rid of those bastard little creases out of the top of the crown of the hat. File this one under “not tonight, dear”.

Edit: Originally done on day 13 for “Clothes” because I didn’t notice hat was coming up later. 🙂
