Here’s a post with all my SculptJanuary stuff from 1 to 31 January 2016. Links to original Tumblr posts included. 🙂
SculptJanuary 31 – Hand.
This one’s rough on account of my shoulder really playing up today – not just limiting my sculpting time but sucking away my energy and tenacity too, both things you need to do a good job.
Still, this is definitely a hand. And with that, my first SculptJanuary is over!
SculptJanuary 30 – Stone Troll.
This stone troll was recently a steed of the Wizard King Elfbotherer as can be seen from the flat planes along the shoulders and nape of the neck. These areas were chiselled and sanded flat in order to more easily attach a saddle – note the fastening points on either shoulder.
Stone trolls are typically controlled by tugging their ears. Intelligent stone trolls can be given simple commands instead. The most complicated command ever carried out by a stone troll was given by the legendary troll master Bloodfroth to his troll servant Oonk: “If that peasant cries for help one more time, throw him and his bloody goats into the lake.”

SculptJanuary 29 – Badlands.
A difficult sculpt and I really feel for the first time this month like the chosen subject just defeated me. I couldn’t figure out a workable technique for building up the bigger forms of the mountains or carving in smaller details. Frustrating.
I like these curious mushroom hills all the same, very 2001: A Space Odyssey with those colours.
SculptJanuary 28 – Superhero. I don’t like superheroes but I do like me some Freakazoid! 🙂
Not one of my better ones but I have to rest my shoulder – got another cortisone shot for the bursitis today, you know how it is.
