I caught Song of the Sea today as part of the Revelation Perth International Film Festival. Been waiting to see this one for ages and it was 100% worth the wait. It’s got a gorgeous storybook look which does some great tricks with perspective, the storytelling is strong without laying it on too thick… it’s just damn good. Beautiful and warm and funny and weepy (manly sniffles were heard at the screening) and awe-inspiring – and it saves the really awe-inspiring stuff for when it counts.

If you get a chance to see it, do. I’ll be snapping this up on BluRay when it finally hits Region B. Definitely a story I want to head back to, learn more about how they made it, etc.
