This is not a quoll. It is a bobtail, a kind of blue-tongued skink with big rough scales on its back and a round-ended tail.

Bobtails are local natives where i live and can be kept as pets with the proper licence. Quolls can’t be legally kept as pets although people who have raised injured or abandoned chuditches as wildlife carers have said they’re better than cats.

If you’re in the Perth area, you can say hi to these guys in person up at West Australian Reptile Park.

This is not a quoll because it’s Goanna Week. Here’s a Gould’s monitor, known by many other names like sand goanna, bungarra, karda in Noongar, etc. Unfortunately i couldn’t photograph both ends at once.

A king skink is photobombing the second image.

This is not a quoll. It is a Mertens water monitor. It is a monitor lizard, related to the komodo dragon, perentie and other goannas.

This is not a quoll. This is a perentie, Australia’s largest species of lizard.
