As you can see, it’s been a productive week. 🙂
18 to 24 August was spent building a rig for Gronky and then beginning the process of binding the rig to his mesh. As of the time of writing, I’m on my sixteenth Gronky video and I’ve put so many hours into rig weighting, shape keying and doing small remodels on this guy I’ve just about lost count. He’s a long way from done, but at a guess he’s more done than left to do. So that’s good.
As always, I’ve recorded the whole workflow with its various successes and failures and put it all onto YouTube with narration:
- Rigging Gronky, part 4
- Rigging Gronky, part 5 was lost in a brainfart. Soz.
- Rigging Gronky, part 6
- Rigging Gronky, part 7
- Rigging Gronky, part 8
- Rigging Gronky, part 9
- Rigging Gronky, part 10
- Rigging Gronky, part 11
- Rigging Gronky, part 12
- Rigging Gronky, part 13
- Rigging Gronky, part 14
- Rigging Gronky, part 15
- Rigging Gronky, part 16
I also added some narration to the first two Pointy videos and reuploaded them:
Movie-wise I watched “My Best Fiend”, a highly entertaining documentary by Werner Herzog about working with firebrand actor Klaus Kinski. Just when you think Kinski’s epic tantrums are the best thing in it, Herzog delivers an amazing yet reserved rant to camera about the obscenity of the jungle. I also watched “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” which was a great little fantasy movie, highly recommended for Terry Gilliam fans.
With respect to the animation attached to this post, it’s only a test I built to spot problems with the rig. I thought I’d share it in all its glitchy spliny weightless unrefined glory anyway. It makes me smile. 🙂
