This has been 1 to 7 June 2015. This week has been mainly planning and reference gathering.

Mainly this week I gathered reference for the new burrow/cave – for caves, most of my reference is coming from the Nullarbor Plain out east – the wide open spaces have been more inspired by the landscape of the Pilbara region up north. So slowly the landscape of this short is turning into a mish-mash of different regions of arid Western Australia.

In terms of planning, I’ve got a new opening scene on paper but I haven’t started doing layout for it yet.

I also did some stand-in credits so that I have something to look at aside from the “scene missing” card while the opening and closing music is playing.

Something in my gut says to hold off doing any more work on layout until I have a more considered notion of how the film should unfold in terms of pacing and story. It’s simple enough to work on parts, but first I want to understand how each of those parts makes up the whole.
