Hello and it’s 8 to 14 May 2016 and your hat a splode.

This week I sketched a couple of new shots and made a to-do list. There’s new scenes to storyboard, a handful of sound effects, a music cue and some sundry new dialogue.

I also learnt that it’s pointless to try showing people an animatic in a noisy bar on a phone when it’s their birthday.

It’s been a fairly quiet week due to aches/pains and socialising (birthdays, family gatherings, etc). While I was convalescing I caught up on Buster Keaton movies, specifically “Sherlock Jr”, “Our Hospitality” and “The Cameraman”.

Buster’s visual gags are masterful. Everything you need to know about what happens next is right there on-screen, plain as day, but you don’t see it coming. I hope to be even half that clever with my own writing one day. He is an inspiration.

I have little else to report, however – quiet week was quiet. Thanks for reading and I’ll catch you next week!
