This is not a quoll, but it is a marsupial. It is a quokka. It was getting late in the day and i wanted to do one last round of the South-West corner of Caversham Wildlife Park. I’d left the aperture of the shots way too open and had succeeded in taking a bunch of pictures of quokkas with disembodied heads floating in blurry z-space. As soon as i realised what i’d done, i turned right back towards their pen and had another shot. Totally worth suffering a little bit more back pain for.

My takeaway is that while f/1.4 is fun and even useful, there’s a time and a place for everything.

This is not a quoll but it is a marsupial. It is a quokka. If quokkas lift their faces up high enough, you get the illusion of a curious and impish little smile, and that’s the only reason i’m posting photos with motion blur.

This is not a quoll. It is a quokka, so at least its name does start with the same first three letters as quoll, and it is a marsupial. Quendas are another such animal.
