Unlike kangaroos, tammar wallabies don’t form large groups (mobs) although their home ranges do overlap.

They’re the model organism for scientifically researching marsupials as they’re easy to handle, breed readily and aren’t expensive to keep. Scientists have discovered a protein in their milk which is 100 times more effective as an antibiotic than penicillin.
