This is not a quoll but it is a dasyurid. It is a dibbler.

Dibblers have been in the news recently – DPAW and Perth Zoo are doing a wild release down on a cat/fox-free island off the south coast of Western Australia.

This dibbler has a running wheel. I have video of the dibbler falling off the running wheel. Want to see it?

This is not a quoll but it is a dasyurid. It is a dibbler, a small and somewhat excitable predatory marsupial from the south-west of Australia.

This one spends a lot of time on his branch until it’s eating time. He has a sweet little pointy face.

When he’s not lying around on branches, this dibbler is a very sociable fellow. Sometimes he gets so excited he accidentally falls off things and gets himself wedged into bits of his enclosure. Then one of the keepers has to free him.

Silly dibbler.

There are many ways to fall asleep on a branch and this dibbler is trying all of them.

Happy Boxing Day, incidentally. I thought a series of photos of an animal lying around suited the occasion well given that’s pretty much all people feel like doing the day after Christmas.

This is not a quoll but it is a dasyuromorph. It is a dibbler, a marsupial carnivore from the south west coast of Australia. It has distinctive white rings around its eyes.

Perth Zoo has a breed and release program to boost dibbler numbers and they have posted a video of a dibbler having a snack of mealworms.
